The footballer (goalkeeper) Boaz Myhill was born in Modesto, California to a Welsh mother and an American father. His parents came across the name Boaz while travelling in Israel; they wanted to give the name to their son but were dissuaded from doing so by other members of their family. The son was christened Glyn, but has been known as Boaz all his life. He played 257 games for Hull City between 2003 and 2010, and since 2010 he has been registered with West Bromwich Albion. As a player at West Brom he was always an understudy (to Ben Foster from 2012 to 2018); in 2019 he was appointed as goalkeeping coach for Professional Phase Development.
He won 19 caps for Wales between 2008 and 2013.
